How to Use
- Make a hot fire and let it die down to hot coals.
- If possible adjust the unit so airflow travels up the flue slowly.
- Place Soot-Loose on the hot coals.
– TWO (2) heaped tablespoons for a maintenance clean
– FOUR (4) heaped tablespoons if the chimney/flue hasn’t been cleaned for a while or is heavily sooted. - CAUTION: HOT DEBRIS can fall from the chimney during the cleaning process. This debris can be a fire hazard.
– If the unit has a door, close it. OR
– If your fireplace is open, place a guard in front to contain hot debris. - The process is complete after approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Remove any loose soot above the baffle plate. Once all loose debris has been removed, your heater will be ready to use.
- Treat your chimney with Soot-Loose monthly during colder months when the unit is in constant use.
